An old plate will lose it’s brilliance as the finish oxidizes. When we remove them from the piano they are cleaned, sanded, primered, sanded, and then painted.

We use a spot putty to fill in deep impressions, scratches, and irregularites in plate castings. The plate is primered and then sanded smooth in preparation for the gold color coat.

Plates are painted with a few layers of custom mixed gold paint using bronzing powders. After the gold is layed down, several clear coats are applied to make the plate shine.

Lettering and decals are applied by hand to appear the way it was originally made to look.
